Rooted in Jesus Christ: Strengthening our roots... Growing in Kingdom fruitfulness

5.  “Screen your message.”

Greg Asimakoupoulos, the author of the Adventure Guidebook, Jesus: The People’s Choice, has tied popular culture to biblical truth. Look at the examples there. If you have not already done so, at least once during this Adventure, schedule a very informal time to talk with a friend about the deeper meaning you detect in a movie, video, or TV program you’ve seen. This might happen naturally in a social setting or work situation. It might be a discussion you have with
your own family.

Also, in the future, as you talk about your faith, the Good News, or Jesus
take your example from the teaching style of Jesus.
1. Keep your testimony, story, or discussion conversational.
2. Be warm and personal. Remember, you also communicate with tone of voice
and nonverbal actions.
3. Avoid religious jargon.
4. Talk with people, not at them.
5. Include humor and human interest.
6. Be sensitive to the needs of others. Be a good listener.
7. Simplify: Speak God’s truth in everyday language.
