Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church

Rooted in Jesus Christ: Strengthening our roots... Growing in Kingdom fruitfulness

Reverend Greg Gillispie

Pastor Greg is a graduate of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, receiving the Master of Divinity degree in 1995. At Louisville, he interned at several Presbyterian congregations and was a hospital chaplain for one summer of training. After his ordination, Greg was called to be pastor to youth and families at the Little Chapel on the Boardwalk at Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. His next call took him to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he was the lead pastor of Hickory Grove Presbyterian Church for nine years, including that congregation’s 50th anniversary jubilee year. He is a strong teacher of the Bible, an insightful workshop leader, and a caring shepherd to people in crisis. Greg is passionate about vitality in churches, as well as fostering faith development for individuals.

He enjoys tennis, biking, and time with family. His wife of 10+ years, Marcia, is a licensed clinic social worker and behavioral health nurse. They have been blessed with two terrific sons, now in fourth and fifth grades. The boys’ grandparents live in Anniston, Alabama, and Cherokee, North Carolina.

Greg Gillispie began his ministry with the people of Richmond Hill on April 8, 2008. He is a husband, father of two boys, and a former radio deejay in Nebraska and Missouri.

As successor to David Long, RHPC's founding pastor, Greg appreciates the exciting story of how this Presbyterian Church was launched and grew in the 1990s. He sees the power of God continue to be at work here:

“Richmond Hill is at an opportune point, and more great mission and ministry is ready to continue. This church has such caring, talented, faithful people. God has called us together for meaningful worship; an emphasis on spiritual discovery; and a balance between internal ministry and beyond-the-walls outreach.

Newcomers find it easy to find deepening friendships here. It is a privilege to be involved in the prayer-powered vision casting that will help us be a growing household of faith for our growing community. Let's discover what the Lord has in store.”
